UNC Hospitals, as part of their new Investments for the Future program, an $8 million investment they are making in carefully selected initiatives that will have significant impact on both patients and the citizens of North Carolina, have chosen to fund the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of NC. PQCNC will build a statewide program to improve the quality of perinatalcare, which will identify best practices and will develop quality improvement programs, among other endeavors. The project leader is Martin J. McCaffrey, MD, Department of Pediatrics; the education coordinator is Karen Metzguer, and the project manager is Keith M. Cochran. The award announcement read, in part:
"In selecting the programs to fund, we took into consideration what we believe will have the greatest impact on the health of the citizens of North Carolina. The programs we are funding are quite visionary, complement each other very well and create critical partnerships with health care providers across the state. The 13 funded initiatives are focused on .... community outreach, the elimination of health disparities and the implementation of new technologies and methodologies, all with the greater goal of improving health of the citizens of our state." |
